New Delhi: There is scorching heat in many regions of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department has said in its latest report that until Sunday, there will be rain at different places in some states of eastern India. The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall over the Northeast and isolated pockets in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha over the next three days.

According to the Meteorological Department, Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and some other parts of Maharashtra have been facing 'heat wave' conditions for the past few days. Earlier this week, Mumbai's maximum temperature touched 38.5 degrees Celsius, while Navi Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius. At the same time, a heat wave has been prevailing in West Bengal for the last 10 days. The water level of rivers has gone down in districts like Bankura, which recorded a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius this week. After Bankura, the maximum temperature of 43.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Panagarh Air Force Station on Thursday. However, due to a partly cloudy sky, the temperature dropped in some parts of the state on Friday. Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, and neighbouring Salt Lake recorded 39.7 degrees Celsius.
