LAHORE: The attack on Pakistan’s Ex-Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Imran (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Wazirabad on Thursday was launched from three different sides in which at least three persons were involved, the police said, citing media report.

The police and eyewitnesses said, there were three separate directions from which the bullets were fired. They said, one of the attackers fired on Khan's container from the roof of a nearby workshop,  Samaa TV reported.

It was earlier asserted that there was just one assailant, who was stopped by someone in the crowd. According to report, he was identified as Naveed "Thua," slang for scorpion in Punjabi.

In a confessional video statement that was captured and made public by the police, he admitted to starting the attack by himself.

The suspect has been sent to Gujrat's Saddar police station. According to the police, they took a 9 mm handgun and four magazines from the suspect.

The Punjab Police have detained a second man in connection with the attack on the PTI leader.

The  Punjab police have said that they are looking for a third person and have initiated a search operation utilising sniffer dogs in the region.

The attack's location has been completely cordoned off by the police. Also, the PTI container has been roped off as forensic experts gather evidence.

Following the gun attack on Khan during the long march in Gujranwala, the alleged attacker's confessional statement was leaked, according to ARY News, and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the chief minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, has taken notice.

Elahi gave the Punjab police Inspector General (IG) instructions to discipline the careless officers. The station house officer (SHO) and other employees of the involved police station were suspended as a result of the leak of the suspect's confessional statement, according to the report.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said that all of the police station employees' mobile phones had been seized and would be subject to a forensic examination.

Elahi also gave instructions to conduct an investigation into the event involving the suspected attacker's video release. He gave the IG Punjab the order to launch an investigation to find out why Imran Khan was shot in the leg during the gun attack.

The orders were given during a special meeting presided over by the chief minister of Punjab.

During the PTI long march, a gunman opened fire close to the PTI receiving camp at Allahwala Chowk, injuring Khan and several PTI leaders.

A party employee or official was killed in the attack, and numerous other people were injured, to said PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan, who was hurt in the incident.
