Pak PM shows concern about the skyrocketing price of basic food items

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's PM Imran Khan has now remembered to curb the essential prices of daily routine to his citizens. Where before, prices of essential commodities were also skyrocketing, now on Sunday Imran Khan announced that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government has announced measures to reduce the prices of basic food items in the federal cabinet meeting.

According to the information received, PM Imran Khan has said in a tweet, " I understand the difficulties ordinary people incl salaried class are confronting & have decided, come what may, my govt will be announcing various measures that will be taken to reduce prices of basic food items for the common man in Cabinet on Tuesday."

It is also being said that he assured the people of Pakistan that if they are found responsible in this matter, they will be asked for answers and they will be punished. Pakistan's Bureau of Statistics reported last week that the inflation rate increased to 14.6 percent in January from 12.6 percent in the previous month, the highest level in 12 years. Inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), is 1.97 times higher than the previous month. Last time, the highest inflation in the country was recorded at 17pc in the year 2007-08. The data released showed that high food prices, especially wheat and flour, pulses, sugar, jaggery and edible oil, were the biggest drivers of overall inflation in January.
