New Delhi: Japanese bike maker Yamaha has discontinued the 2023 iteration of the R15M in India with a price tag of Rs. 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom).

As part of the MY-2023 update, the company revamped the entry-level SuperSport model by adding a quickshifter, traction control system and a colored TFT instrument cluster. Let's look at the top five features of the motorcycle.

The RD350 continues to garner a following among motorcycle enthusiasts with renowned models such as the RX100, FZ series and the R15 geared towards racing.

With the introduction of the R15M model, the brand has now made it easier for aspiring young racers to start their journey. Traction control is now standard equipment on 2023 models.

The Deltabox frame powering the 2023 Yamaha R15M was inspired by racing. The motorcycle is painted in two shades of Metallic Gray and features a powerful fuel tank, an upright windscreen, fairing-mounted angular mirrors, an upswept exhaust, split-style seats, an aluminum swingarm and a pair of horns.

The SuperSport gets bi-functional LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRL strips in the fairing as well as blue colored alloy wheels.

The 2023 Yamaha R15M comes equipped with traction control as standard. The updated two-wheeler features a rear-wheel-sensing system that instantly modifies the power output to prevent excessive wheel slip or spin.

It is believed that young riders, who have not fully mastered throttle control, benefit from the special electronic system, which reduces the likelihood of accidents on the racetrack.

Again as standard, the 2023 Yamaha R15M features a quickshifter which is a first for the industry. The rider can upshift without using the clutch lever thanks to a compact yet effective electronic riding aid.

During operation, the system detects an upshift through the gear lever and automatically engages the clutch. This enables shifts to happen automatically, without the use of the clutch lever or throttle.

The Yamaha R15M now gets a full-colour TFT instrument cluster as part of the MY-2023 update. The stylish design of the 3.0-inch unit was influenced by its older sibling, the R1, and it features smartphone connectivity via the Yamaha Y-Connect app. The console can show a variety of information, including call, SMS and email alerts, and the phone's battery status.

The same 155cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine from the standard R15 model powers the 2023 Yamaha R15M. The mill features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, which modifies valve actuation timing and alters throttle response.

The engine produces maximum torque of 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm and maximum power of 18.1 horsepower at 10,000rpm.
