Patna: Rain, snowfall and cold wave conditions continue to bring down the temperature in many parts of the country. Cold winds in north India have added to the problems of the people. Fog has enveloped many parts of Bihar after late night rains. IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Odisha and Telangana. IMD said on Wednesday that cold wave conditions are expected in several parts of north India including Punjab and Rajasthan for the next few days.

The IMD had issued yellow alerts for Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal from January 11 to January 13. After which the weather is bad in these regions. Several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh are experiencing intermittent rain accompanied by snowfall. According to IMD, western disturbances caused heavy rainfall in many parts of eastern India on Wednesday. Areas of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat are under cold winds, leading to a drop in temperature. In the last 2 days, 26 cities in Bihar have received about 2 mm rainfall.

Hailstorms have also fallen in many districts. This rain system may remain active for the next 24 hours. 13 aircraft remained cancelled at Patna airport on Wednesday due to bad weather. That's where seven planes flew with considerable delays. Hailstorm accompanied by rain at many places has also caused some damage to the vegetable as well as mustard and wheat crops. The Regional Meteorological Centre at Nagpur in IMD has issued a 'yellow' alert for Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Gondia, Bhandara and Gadchiroli districts of Vidarbha in Maharashtra till Thursday. Snowfall in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir these days has doubled the problems of the people. The freezing cold broke many records. Temperatures have dropped to 4-6 degrees below normal. Roads are still covered with snow at many places causing problems in the movement of trains. According to IMD, dense fog is likely to prevail over the plains of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next two days due to night or morning.
