USA: In its Fiscal Monitor report, published on Wednesday, the International Monetary Fund predicted that US public debt would continue to rise in the years to come despite higher government borrowing.

According to IMF economists, part of the increase will be attributable to increased spending by Washington on social security and healthcare, as well as on clean energy initiatives and other domestic economic policies.

The projected US debt-to-GDP ratio for this year is 122.2%, just 0.1% higher than the forecast for 2022 of 121.7%. The IMF predicts that it will increase further to 136.2% of GDP in 2028, up from 107.4% in 2018, and higher than the peak of the Covid pandemic era of 133.5% in 2020.

The agency pointed out that the US and China are responsible for the majority of the rise in global public debt. It issued a warning that increasing government borrowing and spending might increase inflationary pressures, undermining the central banks' efforts.

According to Vitor Gaspar, head of the IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department, public debt worldwide is predicted to reach nearly 100% of GDP by the end of the projection horizon (2028), returning it to "record levels set in the year of the pandemic."

The IMF further stated that recent banking issues in the US and Switzerland have increased the likelihood of a global financial crisis, which could put additional strain on the balance sheets of the public sector.

The group warns that increased government spending will be caused by interest payments and the switch to clean energy.

Why not "return to" Corporate Rates of Taxation" like we had just after World War Two? This choice would lower personal taxes for average, hard-working Americans and enable the launch and expansion of social programmes to all Americans.

the usa is much more in debt than is reported! Wow, they recently stole 2 trillion from the Pentagon, and who knows how much more they steal annually! The military industrial complex's junk jets and missiles they purchase are all a result of public debt theft loopholes! start a conflict to steal the cash. The theft will only rise as a result of the dollar's value and its quick decline!

Debt-based systems are only detrimental when the government maintains a strict balance between assets and debts. However, Washington has far too much power to continue printing money indefinitely.

This issue can be resolved with logic. However, there is essentially no healthy reasoning in the US, so they will go bankrupt in the next two to three years. On Black Tuesday in February 2025, there will be a fire sale of everything American!
