Damoh: On compassionate grounds, a 4-year-old child has been appointed as a child guard or child constable in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh. The child is going to be given half the salary of the constable till he turns 18. There is also a provision for the appointment of child guard in Madhya Pradesh. The agency says that Katni Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Jain has said that Gajendra Markam has been appointed as child constable this week. Gajendra's father Shyam Singh Markam was a head constable. He was posted at Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh. The child had lost his father. In this regard, the child has been given compassionate appointment in the department. At the same time, Additional Superintendent of Police, Katni, Manoj Kedia has said that there are about six or eight posts of child guards in Katni. According to the rules, Gajendra will also be given half the salary of a regular soldier till he attains the age of 18 years and completes his schooling.
