Income Tax Department Conducts Searches Ahead of Telangana Assembly Election

Hyderabad: In anticipation of the upcoming Telangana Assembly election, the Income Tax department executed searches at the residences of two political figures. Congress MLA candidate K Laxma Reddy, vying for the Maheshwaram seat, and Badangpet Municipal Corporator Mayor C Parijatha Narasimha Reddy found themselves subjected to these searches.

Accusations of collaboration between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the BJP, aimed at undermining Congress candidates, surfaced. Gouri Satish, the spokesperson for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), alleged that both parties were effectively working as one. He emphasized the affiliation of BRS with the BJP and urged the people of Telangana to comprehend this relationship.

Amid the Income Tax searches, Congress party supporters gathered outside Laxma Reddy's farmhouse to stage protests. The searches began at Mayor Parijatha Reddy's residence at 5 am. Parijatha, who transitioned from BRS to Congress last year, was reportedly away in Tirupati during the raid on her residence. The Telangana Assembly election, with 119 seats at stake, is scheduled for November 30, and the vote count will take place on December 3.
