Bihar elections: Income-tax Department raids on Congress' Patna office, recovers Rs 8.5 lakh

Patna: The income tax department team raided the Sadakat Ashram, a Congress office in Patna, the capital of Sube, late on Thursday evening amidst confusion over Bihar assembly elections. According to media reports, the IT department team had arrived at the office to give notice. The team gave the notice after cash was recovered from a vehicle standing outside the office.

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala and Bihar Congress-in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil have been interrogated in the case and others are also being questioned. Its team has pasted the notice in the Congress office. Shakti Singh Gohil has said, "I don't know whose money it is. He said that if 8 lakh rupees are to be removed from the train in his compound, what did he have to do with that?

"This is a conspiracy, these people are being defeated by defeat," says Gohil. Many people stand here, we do not know whose car was found. We will give an account of the pie. These people are deliberately doing all these things. We have no fear." Gohil said that nothing has been found from the Sadakat ashram, money has been received from a vehicle standing outside the compound. He said that the income Tax Department team has given notice here.
