Auckland: new era has begun in New Zealand cricket. Martin Guptill and Trent Boult have been dropped from the team for the white ball series against Team India on their soil this month. The New Zealand cricket team will face Team India in a total of 6 white-ball matches (3 T20 and 3 ODIs) starting on Friday (November 18). The Kiwi team announced a 13-member squad for the series on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

Captain Kane Williamson will be in charge of New Zealand. But, veteran opening batsman Martin Guptill and left-arm fast Trent Boult have not been included in the team. One of the reasons for Martin Guptill and Trent Boult not being selected is their old age. Guptill is 36 years old and Bolt is over 33 years old. Martin Guptill is third on the list of highest run-scorers in T20 Internationals. Martin Guptill has scored 3,531 runs in 122 matches at an average of 31.81 and a strike rate of 135.70. Not only this, Guptill is the highest run-scorer for New Zealand in T20 cricket.

At the same time, veteran bowler, Trent Boult has taken 74 wickets in 55 T20 matches at an average of 22.25 and an economy of 7.86. Trent Boult is New Zealand's fourth most successful bowler in T20. Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner have taken wickets more than Trent Boult.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead said dropping Bolt and Guptill was a tough decision but the door was still open for the pair to return to international cricket. Gary Stead said, "When Bolt opted out of his NZC contract in August, we decided that priority will be given to players who have central or domestic contracts. That's what has happened here.''
