India and Australia share secure, prosperous Indo-Pacific: Albanese

SYNDRY: Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia  on Monday said he is "honoured" to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi and underscored that the two countries share a commitment to a stable, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

Australia  Prime Minister Albanese also expressed excitement about Tuesday's celebration of Australia's thriving Indian population in Sydney with Prime Minister Modi.

Albanese said in a statement: "I am honoured to host  India Prime Minister Modi for an official visit to Australia, after receiving an incredibly warm welcome in India earlier this year." "A peaceful, safe, and prosperous Indo-Pacific is a goal shared by Australia and India. Together, we have a crucial part to play in advancing this goal, he said, in the face of China's assertive actions in the area and its efforts to increase its influence.

The relationship between our countries has never been closer as friends and partners. I'm excited to celebrate Sydney's thriving Indian community with Prime Minister Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also said that he was looking forward to his meeting with Albanese on May 24. "I look forward to our bilateral meeting, which will be an opportunity to take stock of our bilateral ties and follow up on our first India-Australia Annual Summit held in New Delhi in March this year," Modi said in his farewell speech on May 19 in New Delhi.

The Australian government released a statement saying that Prime Minister Modi's visit to Australia "builds on the Australia-India Annual Leaders' Summit in New Delhi in March and discussions at the G7 Summit and Quad Leaders' meeting in Hiroshima over the weekend."

"The leaders will discuss trade and investment at their bilateral meeting, including efforts to increase trade between the two countries through a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement, and work to strengthen people-to-people connections, renewable energy, and defence and security cooperation," it said.

In order to advance Australia's expanding trade and investment partnership with India and seize chances from the March Australia-India CEO Forum held in Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi will also meet with Australian business leaders.

'Little India' will also be referred to as Harris Park, a neighbourhood of Greater Western Sydney. According to sources, the Prime Minister will make this announcement during the community event.

As per  the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2016 census, 6,19,164 people in Australia declared that they were of ethnic Indian ancestry. This consists of  2.8% of the Australian population. Among those, 5,92,000 were born in India.
Albanese also expressed  he looks forward to visiting India in September for the G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, the world’s premier forum for economic cooperation.

The western and central Pacific Ocean, including the South China Sea, and the Indian Ocean make up the biogeographic region known as the Indo-Pacific.

In light of China's expanding military manoeuvres in the crucial for international trade Indo-Pacific area, the U.S., India, and other world powers have been discussing the necessity to guarantee a free, open, and prosperous region.

Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, and Vietnam all have territorial claims in the disputed South China Sea, but China claims almost all of it. In the South China Sea, Beijing has erected military outposts and artificial islands.
