New Delhi: Assam CM and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has always been vocal about the Hindutva image, has said in a recent statement that India belongs to Hindus, irrespective of the corner of the world. If they have felt safe here, they can come and stay here. Himanta Biswa said this on Wednesday (November 10, 2021) at a TV event. When asked if he supports giving Citizenship of India to Bengali Hindus in Bangladesh and settling them in Assam.
On this, Sarma said, "India belongs to Hindus. Every Hindu has a right to come and live in India whenever he feels that he is not feeling safe there. CM Sarma further said, "The Word Indian came into existence in 1947, but for 7000 years we have been known as Hindus. I believe in civilization. This is eternal civilization. When we got the Constitution, it was called India. But you cannot separate us from our roots. Every Hindu who is in trouble has their motherland to come back to India.''
After making his stand clear on the issue of Hindus living in foreign countries coming to India and settling them here, CM Sarma said that after seeing what happened in Afghanistan, no one in India should oppose CAA and NRC, where minorities have to flee the country. He said, 'I am sure they must be praising them for passing CAA. '
