New Delhi: India marked its 75th Republic Day with a grand display of military might at Kartavya Path in the capital city.
Leading the charge was the 61 Cavalry, the world's only active Horse Cavalry Regiment, under the command of Maj Yashdeep Ahlawat. Comprising various 'State Horse Units,' the 61 Cavalry epitomizes tradition and valor.
The Indian Armed Forces, steadfast in their commitment to the nation, have ensured security and supremacy along the Line of Control (LoC), the Line of Actual Control (LAC), and globally through UN Peacekeeping missions.
The Republic Day Parade 2024 commenced with a splendid march by a band and contingent from France, symbolizing international camaraderie.
This year's parade showcased a range of state-of-art weapon systems, including the T-90 Tank, Nag anti-tank guided missiles, Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, and the Weapon Locating Radar System- SWATHI.
Leading the detachment of the T-90 BHISHMA Tank was Lt Fayz Singh Dhillon from the 42 Armoured Regiment.
The Bhishma Tank, a formidable 3rd generation Russian Main Battle Tank, boasts a 125 mm smooth bore gun and operates on the hunter-killer concept. With the ability to fire various types of ammunition and missiles up to 5000 meters, it excels in night operations aided by thermal imaging sight. Enhanced with ERA panels, this lethal machine possesses formidable armor.
Weighing 46 tons, the Bhishma Tank can reach speeds of 50 to 60 km per hour and maneuver across diverse terrains effectively. The Regiment's colors, comprising FRENCH GREY, MAROON, and BLACK, add to its distinguished presence.
