Vasant Panchami: This year the festival of Vasant Panchami falls on January 22nd .This auspicious festival marks the commencement of spring season. This festival is celebrated across the country as performing Saraswati Puja. As per Hindu calendar, Basant Panchami comes on the fifth day (Panchami) of the Hindu month of Magha. It is celebrated devotedly offering prayers to Devi Saraswati in different states of India..

As per the most-believed mythology, Goddess Saraswati – the goddess of knowledge, music, arts, science, and technology – was taken incarnation on this day and people worship her to get knowledge. therefore, Basant Panchami is also recognized as Shri Panchami and Saraswati Panchami. Other legends are that Lord Rama consumed half tasted Jujubes of Mata Shabari on Basant Panchami. To observe the values, the festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated. It is also believed that people worship Goddess Saraswati on this day for the reason she was granted a godsend by Lord Krishna.

Basant Panchami is marked to pour respect on Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning who confers on the greatest wealth of humankind – the wealth of knowledge. People worship her to get free-thinking with knowledge and to get liberate from lassitude, apathy, and lack of knowledge.  In all Indian Schools and colleges, pujas are arranged in the morning to look for the blessing of the Goddess Saraswati.
