NEW DELHI: According to data from the Union Health Ministry updated on June 22, India reported 12,249 new coronavirus infections and 13 deaths, while active cases increased by almost 2,300 in a 24-hour period.

The data issued at 8 a.m. showed that the latest updates pushed the nation's overall Covid-19 figures to 4,33,31,645 cases, 5,24,903 deaths, and 81,687 active cases. The number of active cases increased by 2,374 from Tuesday, making up 0.19 percent of all illnesses, according to the health ministry.

As more persons recovered from the illness (4,27,25,055), the nation's COVID-19 recovery rate was scaled up to be 98.60 percent. 1.21 percent of cases were fatal, as per statistics.

The ministry reports that as of today, 196.45 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been distributed throughout the nation as part of the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

On August 7, 2020, India's COVID-19 total had reached 20 lakh. On January 25, this year, it surpassed the dreadful four-crore-case mark.
