New Delhi: According to the Union Health Ministry, India had a significant increase in daily COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with the country reporting 8,822 new infections in the previous 24 hours.
On Tuesday, the country saw 6,594 new infections, down 18% from Monday's 8,084 COVID-19 cases. With these new cases, India's active caseload has increased to 53,637, accounting for 0.12% of the entire caseload, according to the ministry.
In the last 24 hours, 5,718 people have been recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of people recovered to 4,26,67,088. The recovery rate in India is 98.66 percent. The weekly positivity rate is 2.35 percent, while the daily positivity rate is 2%.
There have been 85.58 crore COVID-19 tests conducted throughout the country so far, with 4,40,278 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, India's COVID vaccination programme has surpassed the 195.5 crore dose threshold. This was accomplished by a total of 2,51,27,455 sessions.
