India sets vaccination record, 13 crore doses in 95 days

New Delhi: It took only 95 days for India to give 130 million doses of corona vaccine and according to the Health Ministry, India has become the fastest doing so. The Ministry said it took 101 days for the US to give 130 million doses of corona vaccine while China took 109 days. As per data up to 7 am, a total of 13,01,19,310 doses of corona vaccine have been administered in the country out of which 29,90,197 doses were given in the last 24 hours.

Out of the doses given so far in the country, 59.33 percent doses have been given in eight States - Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala. The nationwide vaccination drive was launched on January 16, with health workers being the first to be vaccinated, while the campaign involved front workers from February 2.

The next phase of corona vaccination began on March 1 for people above 60 years of age and those above 45 years of age with other serious health ailments. India launched a campaign to vaccinate all people above the age of 45 years from April 1.  Meanwhile, on Monday, the government decided to cover everyone in the immunization drive and the work of administering the vaccine to all above 18 years of age will start from May 1.
