Trinidad: At the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, India thrashed the West Indies to win the three-match series 2-1, shattering records in the process. This victory extended India's record-setting streak of 13 straight ODI victories over the West Indies. Since 2007, they haven't lost an ODI series against the Windies. The next best team is Pakistan, who have defeated Zimbabwe in 11 consecutive ODI series. Tuesday's 200-run victory over the West Indies was also India's second-largest ODI victory (in terms of runs).

The batters, led by Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, and later Hardik Pandya, scored 351/5 to set up the victory. India was trying to avoid losing a series to the West Indies for the first time since 2006, and their visiting batters actually gave them a big advantage.

Before being bowled out by Yannic Cariah in the 20th over, Kishan had scored 77 runs off 64 balls. His dismissal put an end to his opening partnership with Shubman Gill, which stood at 143. In the process, Kishan scored his third consecutive ODI half-century, making it the highest opening partnership for India in a one-day international against the West Indies.

As a result, he became the sixth Indian player to score at least 50 runs in each of a series' three ODI games. Shreyas Iyer, who had half-centuries in each of India's three away games against New Zealand in 2020, was the last person to do so.

The first Indian batter to do so was Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who accomplished the feat against Sri Lanka in 1982. After Dilip Vengsarkar did it in 1985 against Sri Lanka, Mohammad Azharuddin did it in 1993 against the same opposition. For 26 years, no Indian had succeeded in doing so before MS Dhoni did it in 2019 against Australia. Then Iyer and Kishan did the same.

The previous best was 339/6 on June 26, 2009, and this was India's highest ODI score in the West Indies. Shivnarine Chanderpaul scored the most runs for the hosts with 63 off 59 balls as India defeated Pakistan by 20 runs. At the time, India's Yuvraj Singh had scored a scorching 131 off just 102 balls, but on Tuesday, no visiting batter reached the century mark. It surpassed the previous record of 350/6 against Sri Lanka in Nagpur in 2005 as the most runs India has ever scored without having a single batter score a century.

Instead, four of India's top five batsmen scored half-centuries, the team's seventh ODI cricket occurrence overall. Shubman Gill's opening partner Kishan scored 85 off 92, while Kishan scored 77 off 64. Then Sanju Samson entered and scored 51 runs off 41 balls. Then, captain Hardik Pandya maintained his perfect record with a scorching 70 off 52.

The only Indians who got to bat on Tuesday and did not reach a half-century were Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, and Ravindra Jadeja. Ruturaj Gaikwad lost on eight off 14, and Jadeja was unbeaten at the other end on eight off seven as Pandya gave India a strong finish. While Suryakumar Yadav scored 35 points out of 30 before losing to Romario Shepherd.

As a response, West Indies lost four wickets in just 11 overs as a result of Mukesh Kumar's (3/30) ability to make the new ball talk. Shardul Thakur then entered to pick up 4/37, and the hosts were never able to recover from the disastrous start. In 35.3 overs, India bowled the West Indies out for 151 runs.
