New Delhi: Originally scheduled for October 15, the high-profile World Cup match between India and Pakistan will now take place on October 14 in Ahmedabad.
The big-ticket match will still take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The marquee match between the two arch-rivals is scheduled to be played in the stadium with the highest seating capacity in the world, according to BCCI and ICC officials.
However, it is not unusual for PCB to request venue changes for an ICC event in India. They forced a change in the location of their league match against India from Dharmshala to Kolkata following a visit by their security delegation in advance of the 2016 T20 World Cup.

After receiving approval from the high-level committee chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is anticipated to make a formal announcement on the matter on Thursday. When that occurs, PCB won't be concerned about sending their team to India for the ICC competition, which will start on October 5.
However, they might ask to tour every venue in India where they are scheduled to perform. According to media reports in Pakistan, PCB will create a special security unit to carry out this task.
According to ICC sources, Pakistan's October 12 match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad may change as a result of the postponement of the India vs. Pakistan match. In order to give Pakistan enough time between the two games, it is likely to be played on October 10. Applying the same reasoning, Pakistan's match against the Netherlands, set for October 6 at the same Hyderabad venue, could also be postponed by one or two days.

The start of the Navratri festival is the main cause of the match's new dates between India and Pakistan. If the match had been played on October 15, security preparations would have been challenging.
In order to reschedule two of its group matches, including the one against India in Ahmedabad, the ICC and BCCI had made contact with the PCB.
Intriguingly, when the ICC releases a revised version of the schedule, there will be other changes in addition to the scheduling of Pakistan's few group matches. A few days ago, BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that a few other member boards had asked for changes to their individual schedules. This indicates that a few of those teams' contests are also likely to be rescheduled.
