India secures Rs 290 crore defense deal with Armenia defeating Poland and Russia

New Delhi: India has succeeded in making a big defense deal with Armenia, leaving behind Russia and Poland. Through this agreement, India will sell weapons worth $ 40 million (about Rs 290 crore) manufactured by Develop and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to Armenia.

According to the information given by the sources, the 'Swati Weapon Locating Radar' system is included in this agreement. These weapons have been manufactured under 'Make in India'. According to information received from sources, Russia and Poland were also offered to Armenia for this. Both nations also organized the trial of the deal, but Armenia trusted the system made by India and the deal was final.

India will supply four Swati Weapon locating radars, which quickly, automatically and accurately detect enemy weapons such as mortars, shells, and rockets in a range of 50 km. Radar can detect multiple projectiles fired from different weapons at different locations simultaneously. The Indian Army is using this radar on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The army was provided with this system for trial in 2018.
