India gets 3 more Rafale fighter jets from France

New Delhi: After taking off from France, the second batch of three Rafale fighter jets landed directly at the Jamnagar airbase in Gujarat. The country has so far received 8 Rafale fighter jets in two consignments. On giving information in this regard, the officials said that the first shipment of 5 Rafale jets reached India on 29 July. Nearly four years ago, India entered into an inter-governmental agreement with the French government for the purchase of 36 Rafale aircraft worth Rs 59,000 crore.

In a tweet in this regard, the Indian Airforce wrote, "The second batch of Rafale aircraft arrived in India on 4 November 2020 at 8:14 pm after flying from France." Rafale fighter jets made by French aerospace company Dassault Aviation are India's largest aircraft purchases in almost two and a half decades. 23 years ago India bought Sukhoi aircraft from Russia.

Recently, Air Force Rafale aircraft are on duty in the East Ladakh region. The Air Force has deployed almost all its combat aircraft such as the Sukhoi 30 MKI, Jaguar and Mirage 2000 to various airbases in eastern Ladakh and near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
