India has issued a crucial travel advisory urging its citizens to leave Lebanon due to escalating regional threats. The advisory, released on August 1, highlights the growing risk of a full-scale conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah, a militant group based in Lebanon.
The Indian government strongly advises against any travel to Lebanon and recommends that Indian nationals already in the country return home immediately. Those who choose to stay are urged to exercise extreme caution, limit their movements, and stay in regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Beirut. The embassy can be reached via email at cons.beirut@mea.gov.in or by calling the emergency phone number +96176860128.
This advisory follows a previous warning that merely suggested avoiding non-essential travel to the region without recommending an immediate departure. This latest alert marks the third such notice issued by the Indian Embassy within a span of 48 hours.
The heightened alert comes amid fears of a significant escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, exacerbated by recent targeted killings attributed to Israel. The situation has intensified concerns of a broader regional conflict involving Israel, Iran, and its allies.
