India lift U-19 Asia Cup title third time in row

COLOMBO: Clinical batting performance by opener Himanshu Rana (71) and No 3 batsman Shubman Gill (70), followed by brilliant bowling show by Abhishek Sharma (4-37) and R Chahar (3/22) helped Team India (under-19) to lift Asia Cup title third time in a row.

In the final played at Colombo, Men-In-Blue scored 34 runs victory over home team as host batting side collapse from 196 for three to 239 all out.

Earlier, after winning the toss, visitors decided to bat and good batting performance from Rana and Gill helped India to post competitive 273 for eight in their 50 overs.

Chasing 274 runs to win the title, the hosts were comfortably placed at one time, but then lost their last seven wickets for the addition of just 43 runs as India completed their title defence successfully.

After match, Abhishek Sharma declared player of the match for his all-round show, while Himanshu Rana adjudged player of series.

Total eight teams, including host Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal and Singapore were participated in the tournament.
