New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has said that the Congress handed over most of the Galwan Valley to China. He has claimed that most of the Galwan Valley was handed over to China during the rule of Jawaharlal Nehru government and this border has remained the same since that time, it has not lost even an "inch" in the past years. The BJP MP made this claim during the discussion on the budget in the Lok Sabha.

He also questioned the Congress why it did not promise to bring back the Aksai Chin region to India in its election manifesto from 1962 to 2019. Terming the budget as "historic", Namgyal said it focused on empowering the border areas. He said, 'I come from a border area, Ladakh, which is on the border of Tibet, China and Pakistan and where there is always tension. The opposition has asked what has been done for the border areas. So, I want to focus on the border in my speech.

The BJP MP accused the Congress of keeping such areas 'backward' and said that it did not even provide basic facilities to the people. He said that, 'Nehru ji did talk about the forward policy, but a backward policy was implemented on the border. Our borders became deserted. No facility was given to the people. He further said that, for the first time, the Vibrant Village Program has been included in this budget, whose objective is to strengthen the villages of the northern region adjoining the border of China and Tibet. Today the leaders of the same party are shamefully questioning the government that what is going on at the border, what is going on in Galwan? What is the update of Pangong and Chushul.
