Actually, it is not that Syed Kirmani was playing from India as well as Pakistan. In fact, there was one player each on both teams, whose name was Syed Kirmani. We all know Indian Syed Kirmani. He was the wicketkeeper-batsman, who was fondly called Kiri by everyone in the team and who was also included in the 1983 World Champion team. His full name is Syed Mujtaba Hussain Kirmani.

At the same time, who was Syed Kirmani in the Pakistani team? The answer is - Zaheer Abbas. Zaheer Abbas is one of the legends of Pakistan cricket, but very few people know that his full name is Syed Zaheer Abbas Kirmani. Zaheer Abbas also holds a great world record. He has scored a century of centuries in first-class cricket. In 1978-79, when the Indian team went to Pakistan, the trio of Indian spinners (Bedi, Prasanna, Chandra) was our biggest weapon. Zaheer Abbas met Miandad and beat the spinners well. Zaheer Abbas scored 176, 96 and 235 runs one after the other. Pakistan won the series 2-0.
