New Delhi: Pakistan Foreign Secretary and former High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood was present in Delhi on the occasion of Eid. This has intensified speculation of possible talks between him and Indian officials. They can be made way for a possible meeting of the Prime ministers of the two countries in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, next week. Mahmood had moved back to Islamabad in April from India.

According to information, Mahmoud was seen praying at Jama Masjid on the occasion of Eid. He was accompanied by a Pakistani diplomat stationed in Delhi. However, neither the Ministry of External Affairs nor the Pakistan High Commission has commented on the presence of Mahmud. Mahmud was the first Pakistani High Commission in India and has now been appointed as Foreign Secretary. He was present in Delhi on Tuesday and is believed to go back on Friday.

According to the information, he is said to have come to Delhi to take his family back. Their children are studying here. His visit, which is far from noisy, has sparked speculation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan may meet during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. Both Modi and Imran will take part in the annual SCO summit on June 13-14.
