New Delhi: India and Pakistan are going to have an important meeting against the locust party on 18 June. The two nations will hold six bilateral meetings from June to November to deal with this problem. However, Pakistan has not yet decided on the meeting to be held on 18 June.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ayesha Farooqui said that we have not yet decided on the proposed meeting on 18 June. Talks are on regarding participation in the meeting. The Ministry of External Affairs also indicated to meet on another day instead of June 18. According to the information, India and Pakistan are expected to meet six times in Munabao (towards India) or Khokroper (towards Pakistan) during the technical level meeting.

India has also proposed to supply pesticides to Iran to control desert locusts in Balochistan and South Khorasan Provinces. Officers of the Central Locust Warning Organization have expressed the possibility of damaging millions of locust teams from India with the monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea reaching India. The organization says that these grasshopper teams can attack crops in late June or early July. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has also warned of the attack of locust parties in northern India in late June.
