New Delhi: Vaccination programme for the fight against coronavirus epidemic has already begun in India. India is also working to provide vaccines to help other countries. In this order, India, as a trusted partner, has sent the Covishield vaccine to Bahrain and Sri Lanka on Thursday. Earlier, vaccines have also been delivered to Bangladesh, Nepal and Maldives from the Indian side.

Under the vaccine friendship campaign, India has sent a consignment of 50,400 doses to Sri Lanka. Bahrain has been given 10,800 doses. Covishield, developed by Serum Institute of India (SII), was loaded into a cargo plane from Mumbai and, according to schedule, left for Manama. The consignment to Colombo was late for 15 minutes and was flagged off at 9 o'clock in the morning.

Earlier, Bahrain had given the green signal to the Covishield to vaccinate the people who faced the complications of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, India has supplied corona vaccine to neighbouring countries Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh under the earlier policy of neighbours.
