New Delhi: India on Tuesday attacked China at the UN Security Council saying it is always an attempt to promote global solidarity with its development partnership efforts by respecting national priorities and ensuring that India's help does not make anyone "indebted".

During an open debate on "Adherence to International Peace and Security: Exclusion, Inequality and Conflict" at the Security Council led by the current President Mexico, Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh said that whether it is with India's neighbours under the "Neighborhood First" policy or with African partners or other developing countries, "India continues to be a source of strong support to help them improve and empower them," Singh added, 'India has always respected national priorities and strived to promote global solidarity with development partnership efforts and ensured that our help, Always be demanding, contribute to job creation and capacity building and not create a situation like making anyone indebted.'

India emphasized the need to address the continued exclusion and inequality in UN security council membership and questioned how long the "meaningful voice" of the developing world would be ignored. India underlined that the global framework needs to be improved to maintain peace and security.
