India extends hand to help neighboring country, will announce economic package soon

New Delhi: India will soon announce an economic support package to ease the pressure on the Maldives economy due to the global epidemic coronavirus. On the occasion of Independence Day of Maldives on 26 July, assistance will be provided based on the message received from the Indian Embassy in Maldives.

Earlier, President of India Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi congratulated Maldives President Solih on Maldives on Independence Day. The Indian Embassy said in its message that India has always stood with Maldives on the basis of friendship, this friendship is historic and we will continue to cooperate with each other for a better future. It is noteworthy that under the Neighborhood First Policy of the Modi government, India has supported him in every difficult time in Maldives.

Efforts are on to strengthen India-Maldives relations. Even before this, India has given 400 million dollars financial assistance to this country in the Indian Ocean to overcome the currency crisis. About 6.2 tons of essential medicines and 600 tons of food items were delivered to Maldives under Operation Sanjeevani from New Delhi even during the crisis of Corona epidemic.
