India is set to host the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup in 2025, featuring 16 men’s and women’s teams from 24 countries across six continents. The announcement was made by the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) on Wednesday.

Kho Kho, which has its origins in India, is poised to showcase the country's rich cultural heritage and the competitive spirit of the sport. The KKFI highlighted that what began as a traditional game played in the mud has now evolved into a global sport, with 54 countries participating worldwide.

Sudhanshu Mittal, the president of KKFI, emphasized the organization's ultimate goal: to have Kho Kho recognized as an Olympic sport by 2032. He stated, “This World Cup is the first step towards that dream,” underscoring the significance of this event in elevating Kho Kho's status on the global stage.

The inaugural Kho Kho World Cup promises to be a landmark event, aiming to enhance the sport's international presence and further its journey toward Olympic recognition.
