DHAKA: Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan did wonders in the first ODI match against Team India. He picked up 5 wickets for 36 runs in 10 overs. In the first ODI match in Mirpur, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli could not do anything in front of the Bangladeshi bowler. Due to Shakib, the Bangladeshi team did not allow Team India to stay at the crease even in the entire 50 overs and reduced it to 186 runs in 41.2 overs. Shakib made history by taking 5 wickets during this period. He achieved the feat of joining the 5-wicket club in his first 7 overs.

Shakib also bowled 2 maiden overs in his 10-over quota. He threw 37 dot balls during this time. This is the best performance of a left-arm spinner against Team India. Shakib has become the first Bangladeshi spinner to do so in ODI cricket against India. Not only this, he has become the second left-arm spinner after England's Ashley Giles to take 5 wickets in ODI cricket against India. In the first ODI, Shakib sent Rohit, Kohli, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar to the pavilion.

Shakib made Kohli and Rohit his victim in the same over. He showed the way to the pavilion to 2 big batsmen within 3 balls. Shakib first sent Rohit on the second ball of the 11th over and then dismissed Kohli for just 9 runs on the fourth ball of the same over. Shakib has done the feat of dismissing Rohit and Kohli in ODI cricket for the second time in the same over. Earlier in 2010, he also made these two batsmen his victim in the same over. Apart from Shakib, Ibadat Hussain took 4 wickets for 47 runs, and KL Rahul scored the highest 73 runs for India.
