New Delhi: India will bear the chairmanship of the G20 group from December 1, earlier Indonesia was the chairman of this group. The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Monday (November 7) that the presidency of the G20 will provide a unique platform for India to contribute to the global agenda on important issues of international importance. PM Narendra Modi will release the G20 website, logo and theme today. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that these logos, themes and websites of the country's G20 presidency will reflect India's message and its broader priorities towards the world.

The G20 or a group of 20 countries is an intergovernmental forum of the world's major developed and developing economies. This includes Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, Britain, the US and the European Union (EU). PM Modi will unveil the logo, theme and website of India's G20 presidency through video conference at 4.30 pm on November 8, the Ministry of External Affairs said. The G20 summit will be held in Bali, Indonesia on November 15-16 and top leaders, including Modi, are set to attend it. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that guided by PM Modi's vision, India's foreign policy is emerging with a vision to play the role of the Speaker on the global stage.

As an important step in this direction, India will assume the leadership of the G20 from December 1, the ministry said. The G20 presidency will provide India with a unique opportunity to contribute to the global agenda on key issues of international importance. The G20 is a key forum for international economic cooperation, representing about 85 per cent of global GROSS domestic product (GDP), more than 75 per cent of global trade and nearly two-thirds of the world's population.
