Jorhat, Assam: On June 13, 2024, the Indian Army marked the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas with a nationwide motorcycle expedition. This event, known as the 'Rajat Jayanti' (Silver Jubilee) of the Kargil victory, involved three teams of riders setting out from different corners of India: Dinjan in the East, Dwarka in the West, and Dhanushkodi in the South, all converging at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, North India.

The Indian Army announced that the expedition, named the 'Delta 5 Motorcycle Expedition,' symbolizes the unity and resilience of the Armed Forces. Along their routes, the riders will honor Kargil War Heroes, Veterans, and Veer Naris, and pay homage at various war memorials.

The Delta 5 Motorcycle Expedition was flagged off simultaneously from the three starting points. The eastern route team, starting from Dinjan military station, will travel 4000 kilometers through eight states and union territories, reaching Dras. On June 12, the team arrived at Jorhat Military Station, where Major General Deepak Sharma flagged them off. The next day, Brigadier MR Subodh continued the flag-off ceremony from Jorhat.

All participating motorcyclists are from the Regiment of Artillery, highlighting the significant role the Indian Army played in the Kargil War. The expedition aims to honor the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers who fought in the conflict. It will also recognize the contributions of Kargil Veer Naris and War Veterans along the way.

Beyond commemorating the Kargil victory, the expedition seeks to educate school children, NCC cadets, and Indian citizens about the valor of the soldiers who achieved this victory. Through this journey, the Indian Army hopes to instill a deeper understanding and appreciation of their dedication and heroism.
