Indian Army gifts 10 dogs and 20 military horses to Bangladesh for Diwali

New Delhi: In an effort to further strengthen India-Bangladesh bilateral relations, the Indian Army has gifted the Bangladeshi army 20 fully trained military horses and 10 landmine detection dogs, trained by the Indian Army's Remount and Veterinary Corps. The Indian Army has also trained Bangladesh Army personnel to handle them.

The gift delivery program took place at the Petrapole-Benapole Integrated Check Post at the India-Bangladesh border. Brigadier JS Cheema from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka was also present.  The Indian Army delegation was led by Maj Gen Narinder Singh, Chief of staff of Brahmastra Corps. The Bangladeshi army delegation was led by Maj Gen Mohammad Humayun Kabir.

Major General Narendra Singh, Chief of staff of Brahmastra Corps, said the performance of military dogs in the Indian Army has been commendable. Major-General Narendra Singh further said that we are always ready to help a friendly country like Bangladesh on issues like security. As for safety, dogs have proven their potential. Dogs entrusted are extremely effective in landmine detection.
