Manish Kaushik has confirmed his Olympic quota by defeating Australian boxer Garside Harrison 4–1 in the 63kg box of finals. With this, nine Indian boxers have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. Punjab boxer Simranjit Kaur, who won the Olympic quota for the first time, lost in the final of the Asian Olympic qualifier. Simran was defeated 5–0 by Korean boxer Oh Yeonji (60 kg) in the final. Simran had to be content with the silver medal with this defeat. Simran's silver came with two silver medals in India's account.

Earlier, India's boxer Vikas Krishnan, who won gold in the Commonwealth, missed the final of the Asian Olympic qualifier. On Wednesday, he had to withdraw from the final match due to an eye injury and had to be satisfied with the silver medal itself. Medalist Vikas of the Asian Championship had to meet Jeyad Ishash of Jordan in the final of 69 kg category.

The 28-year-old Vikas, who is making a comeback to international boxing after a long time, defeated the second-seeded Kazakhstan boxer in the semi-finals. He has already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics along with seven other Indian boxers. Not only this, Vikas is the second Indian boxer after Vijender Singh to have qualified for the Olympics three times. Sachin Kumar had to face defeat against Tajikistan boxer Cinejamtulov in the 81kg.
