New Delhi: The issue of Jammu and Kashmir was once again raised at the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The OIC claimed alleged human rights violations in Kashmir, saying Kashmiris should have the right to self-determination. Now India has strongly criticised the OIC's statement, saying that the OIC's statement is false and baseless. Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi shared India's statement on his Twitter handle on Thursday.

A statement from India said, "The statements made in the meeting and the proposals adopted show how irrelevant the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is as an institution. It also shows how big a role Pakistan has played in its manipulations," the statement said, adding that India has been mentioned in the OIC, which is based on lies and misrepresentation. In Pakistan, the rights of minorities are constantly violated. It is foolish to comment on the OIC's treatment of minorities in India at its (Pakistan's) behest. "All countries and organisations involved in such exercises should realise the impact it will have on their reputation."

What did the OIC say on Kashmir?

In fact, regarding Kashmir, the OIC in its resolution had said that we strongly condemn the human rights violations taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. Regarding the abrogation of Article 370 from Kashmir, the OIC had said that on August 5, 2019, India in a unilateral decision illegally revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Its goal is to change the demography of Kashmir. The OIC said that until the Kashmir issue is resolved, there cannot be peace in South Asia. The OIC said, "We display our unwavering solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We express our full support for the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), OIC and their right to self-determination, in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people."
