New Delhi: The exercise to evacuate Indian nationals from Afghanistan is underway after the Taliban captured the terror group. The Government of India has named the operation to rescue civilians from Afghanistan 'Operation Devi Shakti'. The name of the campaign came to light when External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar mentioned it when 78 people from Dushanbe came to India on Tuesday.

India on Tuesday brought 78 people from Dushanbe to India, including 25 Indian nationals and several Afghan Sikhs and Hindus. A day earlier, he was airlifted from Kabul to Dushanbe by an Indian Air Force military transport aircraft. S Jaishankar tweeted, 'Operation Devi Shakti is continuing. 78 people have arrived from Kabul through Dushanbe. Hats off to the Indian Air Force, Air India, and the Team Ministry of External Affairs for their untiring efforts.'
India has repatriated more than 800 people, including Afghans from the Sikh and Hindu communities, as part of a rescue operation to rescue people from Afghanistan. Thousands of people are gathering at Kabul airport after the Taliban is captured and trying to leave the country. India had also launched a campaign to evacuate people from August 16.
