The news source has informed about the trainer aircraft MiG-29K of Indian Navy crashed into the Arabian Sea around 5 pm on Thursday. One pilot has been rescued while search operation by air and surface units has been launched for the second pilot. "A MiG-29K trainer aircraft operating at sea ditched at about 17.00 hours on 26 November," an Indian Navy spokesperson said in a statement.
The spokesperson said an inquiry has been ordered to investigate about the incident. More details are awaited as the search for another pilot is in progress. This is the third crash of MiG-29K in the past 12 months.
In February 2020, an Indian Navy MiG aircraft crashed while conducting a routine drive in Goa. The MiG-29K aircraft was conducting a routine training drive off the coast of Goa when it crashed at around 10.30 am. The Indian Navy has a fleet of over 40 MiG-29K fighter aircraft based out of Goa and is operated from the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier.
