New Delhi: A large number of migrant labourers had to return to their homes amid the lockdown implemented. Workers 'special trains also played a big role in the workers' return. The average fare for Shramik Special trains was Rs 600 per passenger. Indian Railways has given information in this regard. From May 1, 60 lakh migrant labourers were transported to their homes through Shramik Special trains.

Indian Railways received revenue of 360 crores through the train. The transporter operated 4,450 workers special thrones, confirmed by Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav. He said, 'The average fare for Shramik Special trains is Rs 600 per person. It should be kept in mind that this mail is the normal fare of express trains, there are no special train fares which are more. We have transported 60 lakh passengers to their homes. We have only recovered 15 percent of the cost of operation. 85 percent of the expenditure has been borne by the central government.

Officials say that a total of 75 to 80 lakh rupees have been spent in the operation of labor special trains. VK Yadav said that most of the migrant workers have been shifted to their homes, very few labourers are yet to be transported. He has said that 'We have asked the state governments only on June 3 to express their demands in respect of trains, 171 more Shramik Special trains have been demanded from us from different states."
