New Delhi: Chandrakanta Goyal, mother of Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and veteran leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), died at her residence here on Friday night. Piyush Goyal has shared this news on social media. Piyush tweeted from his official Twitter handle that he wrote, "He spent his entire life serving, and inspired us to live with service too."

He wrote in his tweet that 'My venerated mother, who always guided me with her affection and love, passed away this morning. She spent her whole life in service, and inspired us to live in service as well. May God place her at its feet. Chandrakanta Goyal was a councilor in Mumbai for a term after the Emergency. Later she was elected BJP MLA from Matunga Assembly constituency three times. Her husband, late Ved Prakash Goyal, was the National Treasurer of the BJP for a long time. He was the Minister of Shipping in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government.
