New Delhi: There is essential news for those traveling by train. You will no longer get a big facility at the time of train travel. In fact, the Government of India has been providing Wi-Fi in trains and railway stations for the convenience of passengers for the last few years. After providing Wi-Fi connectivity at all railway stations in the country, the government announced that it will provide free Wi-Fi in trains running across the country.

In 2019, former Railway Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the Centre is planning to provide Wi-Fi inside trains in four and a half years. But there were many challenges due to which it has now been removed from the railway project. Now, this project has been removed by the Indian Railways. According to a report received, railways have stopped the project of providing internet connection in trains as the cost was not cost-effective. The Government confirmed this in Parliament. Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that under the pilot project, the government provided a Wi-Fi internet facility through satellite communication technology in the Howrah Rajdhani Express train.

At the time of the same pilot project, it was observed that a recursive cast is required with technology-intensive capital, such as bandwidth charges, which do not make the project cost-effective. Also, the internet bandwidth provided to the people on the train was inadequate. The Railway Minister informed that so far, suitable, affordable technology is not available for Wi-Fi internet service in trains.
