Guwahati: Amidst the political war between the government and the opposition over the Detention Center, Majdur is finalizing the country's largest Detention Center in Assam. This detention center spread over 25 bighas is being built at Matia in Goalpara at a cost of Rs 46 crore. It is located at a distance of 129 km from Guwahati, within which 3000 people can live.

In his speech delivered on 22 December, PM Narendra Modi claimed that there is no Detention Center in India. Giving information on the site, a high official Mukesh Basumatri has said that, we would have finished the work this month, but due to the monsoon, we got delayed in completing it. My concern is that the raw material is available on time so that we can complete the work on time.
