New Delhi: India is on track to become the global hub for content creation, with projections indicating the market will soar from $30 billion today to an impressive $480 billion by 2035, as stated by Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia.

During a panel discussion at the ‘India Mobile Congress 2024’ in New Delhi, the minister highlighted the importance of making information accessible to all and emphasized India’s readiness to adopt next-generation technologies like 6G to spearhead the digital transformation.

A recent report from Ernst & Young noted that the Indian content industry is expected to reach $30.6 billion this year. Experts at the event discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation presents opportunities to increase revenue, lower costs, and explore new markets, particularly in tier 2 and 3 cities where content consumption habits are changing.

They explained that AI is facilitating real-time personalization and engagement with audiences, paving the way for significant growth in the creative economy. The discussion emphasized AI’s role in enhancing, rather than replacing, human creativity.

Notably, AI is contributing to the growth of regional content, with 95 percent of YouTube viewership in India now in regional languages, showcasing a shift from the previously dominant English-speaking audience.

Industry experts noted that AI-driven content can also educate and raise awareness, providing unique opportunities to disseminate meaningful information.

The ‘India Mobile Congress 2024’ was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam, where he toured the exhibition area before officially opening the event.

This year's congress features over 400 exhibitors, around 900 startups, and participation from more than 120 countries. Attendees can explore over 900 technology use case scenarios and engage in more than 100 sessions led by over 600 speakers from both global and Indian backgrounds.

Additionally, India is hosting the esteemed World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly (WTSA) 2024 from October 14 to 24.
