The role of doctors was very important all over the world during the Corona period, and even doctors who were considered godly on earth served patients with utmost care, regardless of their lives. Today, on National Doctor's Day, we are going to tell you the stories of the country's first woman doctor.

Born on March 31, 1865, to a conservative Brahmin family in Maharashtra, Anandibai, who later became known as the country's first female doctor. At the age of 9, Anandibai was married to Gopalrao Joshi, then he was aged 25. Gopalarai married Anandibai on the condition that she would start studying after marriage, as Anandi Bai did not know how to read and write.  Gradually, Anandibai began to feel like studying, but when Anandi turned 14, she gave birth to a child who died in just 10 days.

She was deeply saddened by this, after which she decided to become a doctor and resolved to stop untimely deaths. After making up her mind, Anandibai started her studies and completed her basic education. She then joined a medical programme at Women's Medical College in Pennsylvania - one of the two women's medical colleges in the world. After 2 years, 19-year-old Anandibai graduated from the US in Western medicine and became India's first female doctor. Though Anandibai could not serve the patients for long and bid farewell to the world at the age of 22, she left a legacy that would survive forever.
