Bhubaneshwar: In a jubilant celebration marking the remarkable achievement of India's Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hosted a grand Chandrayaan Mahotsav in Bhubaneshwar on Monday. This celebration is part of a nationwide initiative by the AIIMS institutes, which currently number 20 across the country.

On August 23, India achieved a monumental milestone as the Chandrayaan-3 lander module executed a flawless soft landing on the lunar surface's South Pole. This historic moment not only secured India's place in space exploration history but also brought closure to the disappointment stemming from the Chandrayaan-2's crash landing four years prior.

India's triumphant achievement placed it in the prestigious company of the United States, China, and Russia as one of only four nations to successfully land on the Moon's surface. Following its landing, both the Vikram lander and the Pragyan rover embarked on a series of critical tasks on the lunar terrain, including the identification of sulphur presence and the recording of temperature differentials.

The spacecraft's journey commenced with a launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on July 14. This remarkable endeavor represents a significant leap forward in India's space exploration endeavors and underscores the nation's growing prowess in the field of lunar exploration.
