The Government of India has introduced Sandes app to rival WhatsApp. This was reported by Minister of State for Electronics and IT Cases Rajeev Chandrasekhar in the Lok Sabha. This instant messaging platform has been ready by the National Informatics Centre. Work on this had been going on for a long time. Tell you, it was also released for some users. It is available on google play store and apple's app store.
The Indian version of WhatsApp is considered to be Sandes:-
It is an Indian option for Facebook-owned WhatsApp. It can be used for all communication by any human being with a phone number or email ID. Sandes is currently being used by government employees and agencies belonging to the Government.

Sandes is an open source-based, secure, cloud-enabled platform. It has been hosted by the Government and on government infrastructure. The app has a lot of features. Like WhatsApp, users in this app can send messages and in groups to anyone. Users can also send any file and media such as photos, videos, and audio. It also provides audio and video call services.
