New Delhi: IndiGo Airlines reported on Thursday that its flight en route from Jeddah to Hyderabad was redirected to Karachi due to a critical medical emergency involving a passenger who, unfortunately, succumbed upon arrival. Subsequent to the necessary protocols, the flight eventually resumed its journey and safely landed in Hyderabad on Thursday morning.

The diversion stemmed from a severe medical issue aboard flight 6E 68, traveling from Jeddah to Hyderabad. "In response to the medical emergency, the captain made the decision to divert the flight to Karachi, where immediate medical attention was provided to the passenger upon landing. Regrettably, despite efforts, the passenger was pronounced deceased upon arrival," the airline stated.

Following the completion of formalities, the flight resumed its course from Karachi and touched down in Hyderabad at 0908 IST. "We are maintaining communication with the deceased passenger's family and extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to them during this difficult time," the airline added.

Incident on Jaipur-Bengaluru IndiGo Flight

In a separate incident last week, a 32-year-old passenger aboard a Jaipur-Bengaluru IndiGo flight reportedly exhibited disruptive behavior towards the flight crew, allegedly due to being under the influence of alcohol. Despite repeated warnings during the flight, the individual continued with unruly conduct.

Upon arrival at Bengaluru airport on November 17, authorities took the passenger into custody. IndiGo filed a complaint, resulting in the initiation of legal proceedings under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The accused was subsequently arrested but later released on bail, according to a senior police officer at Kempegowda International Airport.
