New Delhi: Low cost Airline IndiGo took delivery of its first aircraft powered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from Airbus on Friday, according to a statement. SAF refers to any fuel that emits fewer carbon emissions than normal kerosene.
IndiGo's Chief Executive Officer, Ronojoy Dutta, stated in a statement, "We are delighted to take delivery of this Airbus aircraft, which will run on SAF, as part of our journey towards sustainable aviation." "At IndiGo, we understand the necessity of implementing sustainability in aviation, and this is yet another step toward a cleaner atmosphere," he said.
According to the airline's announcement, the Toulouse-Delhi journey operated by this A320neo aircraft on Friday was the first international flight operated by any Indian carrier using SAF.
The plane arrived at the Delhi airport about 11 a.m. on Friday, according to the report.
