Indore gets tag of ‘Aspiring Leader’ in Swachh survey

Ministry of Urban Development and Quality Council of India handled a survey on sanitation(swachh) in which there are 73 cities comes under the process of survey and out of 73 Indore gets 25th position.

This survey was conducted to check the progress of Swachh Bharat Mission ,due to which a team of five members had inspected the city.All the members of the team belongs to the ministry and QCI.

 QCI categorized the cities into four tag :Leader, Slow movers, Acceleration required and Aspiring leader and in this tag Indore gets the last one ’Aspiring leader’ after getting score of 1,276-said the commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation-Manish Singh.

QCI has reached onto the decision after taking data from three sources namely-the municipal body,citizen feedback and filed inspection by observers.

After completed first stage ,the team gone to the other level based on comprehensive filed inspection practicing GPS system and tablets, they took photographs too of the inspected areas.

Rohan Saxena(IMC additional commissioner)said-“In 2010 Indore got 61th rank and in 2014 got 40th rank.But now we are foremost from the big cities like Amritsar,Gandhi nagar,Banglore”

The ministry team checked all households individual toilets, community toilets, door-to-door garbage collection, waste management and treatment.

QCI had set six parameters for evaluation of a city. Planning for ODF, waste management, door-to-door waste collection, public and community toilets, and individual toilets

Communication: Information, Education and Behaviour Change Communication (IEBC) activity Score 40/50

Waste Management: Door-to-door Collection, Sweeping, Collection & Transportation Score 253/400

Waste Management : Processing and Disposal Score 135/200

Sanitation: Public & Community Toilet Provision Score 105/150

Sanitation: Individual Household Latrines Scores 133/150
